NEC Sphere Partners with Perficient to Streamline Human Communication Within Enterprise Portal and Business Applications
Conferencing and buddy list portlets put communications directly into the context of business applications and web portal tools
Orlando Fla., Lotusphere January 20, 2009, - NEC Sphere Communications Inc., a subsidiary of NEC Corporation and the leader in UC Software and Service Oriented Communications (SOC), today announced at Lotusphere 2009 in Orlando Fla., its partnership with Perficient Inc., a leading information technology consulting firm serving Global 2000 and other large enterprise customers throughout North America, to develop robust conferencing and "buddy list" portlet applications.
The portlet applications will give enterprise portal users easy access to NEC SphericallCSE IP PBX software to add human communication within each tool, thus saving time by eliminating the need for users to run separate desktop applications.
NEC Sphere, developers of Sphericall, say that today's partnership announcement with Perficient will be the first of several to come.
An ability to create robust portlets "is evidence of Perficient's deep knowledge as a leading systems integrator that creates business solutions that prove extremely valuable," says Todd Landry, senior vice president of NEC Sphere.
"One reason NEC Sphere is tapping Perficient is this experienced integrator's influence as we progressively add SOC functionality to enterprise applications. We want to help users of enterprise portal and business applications by adding a vital human communication component, boosting productivity and interaction among their various team members in the process."
For instance, once Perficient's portlets are installed for Sphericall, a CRM user wanting to make a quick call can check presence on a certain work group or join a conference within the context of the portal without the added hassle of having to run a separate desktop application. This increases productivity by keeping users focused within the tool used to perform job.
"We place a strong emphasis on not only on delivering value in each of our solution engagements but also on building lasting relationships with clients and partners," says Jeff Davis, President and Chief Operating Officer of Perficient. "We're excited to continue to help NEC Sphere bring its vision to market and look forward to the building of a long-term partnership."
Sphericall, Landry notes, is an open system, software-based and simplified approach to comprehensive unified communications, running on industry-standard servers across existing data networks. Some of the fully integrated features of Sphericall include voice, presence, softphone, desktop vide conferencing, instant messaging, unified e-mail/voice mail and personal calling profiles. The software scales to 30,000 ports per system across multiple locations.
NEC Sphere is exhibiting at booth 706 at Lotusphere 2009, January 18-22 in Orlando, Fla. Perficient is exhibiting at booth 435.
